On Jan. 24, Mike Alvarado is supposed to meet Brandon Rios in the ring, and it's scheduled to be broadcast nationally on HBO. This is the third time the two boxers are supposed to meet, with the match being highly anticipated.

Whether the fight will happen, though, is not certain. Alvarado was arrested on Jan. 3, 2015, in Denver, Colorado, after a traffic stop a little after 4:00 a.m. There apparently was a felony warrant out for his arrest. In addition, Denver police allegedly found a Taurus handgun in the glove box of his vehicle in which he was a passenger. That led to an arrest for suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon. He posted a bond of $41,500 and was released.

According to his promoter and manager, the fight will go on as planned. The more pressing concern, though, is whether the boxer will be ready for the fight. His manager said, "He's living in a different world. He didn't go to court like he was supposed to, like we told him to. He doesn't understand sometimes. He's just with the wrong people in the wrong places sometimes." That wasn't all his manager had to say, though. He also said, "I'm just fed up with it. I'm at a loss. I don't know what to do this guy. After this fight, that's it."

This just goes to show how much of an effect an arrest can have on one's career. This fight is likely worth millions in the winner's pocket, but if Alvarado isn't prepared or if the fight is cancelled, that money won't be in his pocket.
